Our Practice

Collaborative family law is a structured, team-based approach designed to help families resolve disputes respectfully and outside of court.

In the collaborative family law process, each party works with a collaboratively trained attorney and other neutral experts—such as divorce coaches, child specialists and financial advisors—who provide guidance on complex issues. At the start, all participants sign a participation agreement (the Collaborative Stipulation), which keeps everyone focused on resolution rather than litigation.

This approach can be especially effective for families with complex finances, business interests, high-value assets, or emotionally sensitive circumstances. It provides comprehensive support, thoughtful guidance, and a respectful, deliberate pace, helping families reach fair and sustainable agreements that honor everyone’s needs. By keeping control in the hands of the family and emphasizing cooperation over conflict, collaborative family law gives clarity, confidence, and a dignified path forward.

Understanding Your Process Options

Choosing the right path for your divorce resolution is a pivotal decision that influences outcomes, emotions, costs, and future stability. At Winestone Mediation, we guide you through three out-of-court options— Mediation, and Collaborative Family Law—each designed to preserve privacy, avoid litigation, and promote respectful, lasting agreements tailored to your family.

Mediation

Mediation is a structured, confidential process in which a neutral mediator facilitates comprehensive discussions to help the parties reach their own agreements. Unlike litigation, decisions are not made by a judge. Mediation places control squarely in the hands of the people most affected by the outcome.

Collaborative Family Law

Collaborative Family Law is a team-based settlement process designed for families who want comprehensive professional support while remaining fully committed to resolving matters outside of court.
